Our Mission The mission of the West Coast Umpires Association is to enrich the mind and nourish the spirit of; youth, high school, and College Baseball and Softball participants through professional level officiating. We will enhance the Baseball and Softball experiences and expand the perspectives of our youthful players, their coaches, and the institutions they represent. Our Vision Our vision is to be the preferred provider of Baseball and Softball Umpires to Local institutions and organizations. We want our association to be recognized for its professional bearing, supportive perspective, commitment to proper mechanics, and effective interpretation and enforcement of the governing rules of baseball and softball at every level of our involvement. We expect our Umpire staff to be dedicated to continuous self-improvement through education and experience, with emphasis on being the best officials they can be. Our Umpires should expect their involvement in our association to be fruitful. One of support to foster the notion of service to others in order develop respect, excellence, and the well being of the student athletes they are assigned to officiate for. We believe there must be a general compatibility among the values and daily practices of our association, its Umpires, and the institutions and organizations we serve. Our Values We at West Coast Umpires Association are the guardians of the values that underlie our sports. The central tenet of our effort is a belief that youthful athletes are the ultimate beneficiaries of our hard work and dedication. We expect to work hard, have fun, and celebrate our successes. Respect for People Respect for people -- honoring their rights as individuals -- is the cornerstone of our culture. We respect individual differences and diversity as qualities that enhance our efforts as teams. Whether that be officiating crews, players, coaches or parents. We believe in treating each fairly. What is right, is based on Fairness and the governing rules of the sport, not “who is right”. Integrity and Responsibility We are committed to the highest standards of integrity in all aspects of our officiating and are responsible to all of our stakeholders. Our actions, as individuals and as baseball and softball umpires, enhance the quality of these sports. Competition We believe that competition is the ultimate driving force of growth and progress. We compete as an association. We are driven by our competitive nature to achieve continuous improvement in our officiating, our individual performance, and in the contributions we make as independent contractors. Knowledge We value learning as a ongoing process, the means by which we gain the knowledge to understand the rules, champion better competition, enhance our presence on the field, and achieve both professional and personal growth.
